Participatory research demands creativity. Collaborative crafting gives space for us to build connections, explore mutual curiosity, share skills and experience, tell stories and make material representations of our interactions. Art has the potential to translate stories, concepts and emotion into sounds, imagery and performance, letting us explore each others’ experiences and interpret them from multiple perspectives.
This section of the site is still developing but the aim is for it to host some of the research-meets-art workshops and projects I’ve led or had the opportunity to be involved with in some way. In the beginning, it may simply be a place to hold files to make them accessible to more people. It will eventually take a more solid shape.
The first piece I will share is the digital quilt of the works created by the participants of the 14th International Disability Law Summer School at the University of Galway in June 2023. Each image is accompanied by a description and most descriptions are in the words of the person who created the piece.
